Remembrance Day Church service, November 5, 17

On Sunday November 5, First Baptist Church commemorated Remembrance Day with a morning church service.  Wreaths were placed, the names of those who members who served in both the First and Second World Wars were read, a bugler played and a moment of silence was observed.  The choir sang “Faith of our Fathers” during the offering.  Shown are three members of the congregation who have served in Canada’s military (L to R):  Mr. Darreyl Hennigar, CD, Mr. John Baird and Rev. Wayne Sollows, CD.  Of interest is that John Baird had been involved at First Baptist for over 92 years, having been brought there by his parents as an infant.  John served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WW 2, as an air gunner in Halifax bombers and flew in 32 missions.
